3 Founder power moves – are you doing these?

1. Display personal power when starting off

That will show that this is what you expect from them, making your benchmark clear. If you start lenient, people will take you lightly, and might cause problem in the future. Instead start with an authoritarian approach, and when things settle and you become lenient and more democratic, people will think that they have 'convinced you over' and regard your presence. Not only that, if any time, you need to be direct and stricter, they would not feel offended and take it natural.

2. Take the Godfather movie as an example - show disappointment when needed.

It's all good to be loving and caring, but that doesn't do good when something/someone needs sheer change. Show your disappointment when needed, and get things done the right away. Always having the calm and composite demeanor, even when things are going the wrong way will do no good. Take example of Michael Corleone from Godfather, mostly calm, but strong and angry when needed.

3. Develop group identities, turn your 'I did it' to 'we did it'

Turn your I's into We's, and always address your group as 'We', this will build a team building attitude among your employees. Moreover, you will get larger support for your goals and initiatives. According to a scientific study also, "when people define themselves as group members, they also start behaving as a group." resulting into team work and greater wins.
