1 tech thing: How To Design Better AI Apps
A lot of AI apps today are technically impressive but still feel awkward to use. This chat gets into why that happens—and how the best AI products are actually built through trial, instinct, and clear communication with the model. It’s not about perfect code, it’s about creating something that feels right. The conversation is casual, full of real examples, and gives you a look at how builders are rethinking what good design means in the age of AI.

"The real problem is not whether machines think but whether men do."
— B. F. Skinner, American Psychologist
“The one thing that doesn't abide by majority rule is a person's conscience.”

👉 3 tips to grow your SaaS product
1. Don't cold call your customers
When starting out with sales, you are likely to make the best sales script ever - utterly professional & sounding perfect. Repeating it over and over again to each prospect. And eventually sounding like a robot.Customers don't like cold calls, neither will trust you.
Having created our own product, and pitching it to thousands, we gotta tell you, same sale script doesn't work. Here's a simple hack that significantly improved how we approach our prospects:
Speak in a language that best resembles the prospect. No sturdy voice, but simple human tone, authentic, being genuinely interested to offer them value. That's it, it's a deal then.
👉 Btw, ask these 10 B2B sales discovery questions to seal more deals. (Questions framed by an expert)
2. Don't give customers a discount right away, adopt 'quid quo pro'
When customers say your product is 'too expensive', either they are not able to understand the value your product is offering compared to your competitors or simple, you haven't made a good sales pitch! In this case, you are likely to give a discount right away
👉 "Okay I offer you 50% off."
This will degrade the value of your product
Don't do that ❌
Instead, adopt 'quid quo pro', it is a Latin phrase, which translates to'something for something'
Try saying 👉 " Okay I can offer you a 25% discount for the first 6 months in return for a video testimonial."
This will work, your customer will think, wow with just a video testimonial I get a 25% off, and will seal the deal.
This was just an example, you can create your own discount framework, butthe trick is always in exchange for something, without devaluing your product.
Some examples,
- For every successful referral, 3 months of free membership.
- Sign up in the next 7/χ days, no set up fee.
- Make annual payment, 10-20% more discount or get 2 months free.
3. Stop old marketing tactics, use AI
Are you still sending those generic emails to your customers? Time to stop it right there. Why it is not working? Customers have become demanding more than ever. They want marketing personalised to their taste, which speaks directly to them, not some conventional message.
How successful businesses are getting it right?
