So, welcome to Hapony, one of the outstanding projects that we are proud to have developed.

The founder’s story - the motivation behind Hapony

While we all were learning to bake banana bread, and whipping a delicious creamy Dalgona coffee during the lockdown, Matt Francis, the founder of Hapony was mastering attending virtual meetings. And that’s when it dawned upon him, that there were so many notable video conferencing apps, but none offered customizations based on the enterprise needs, and neither was their set-up easy.

Yes, some of the notable apps in the market did offer advanced features, like screen sharing, breakout rooms, whiteboard, etc., but none of the apps offered advanced features, along with customizations, and an easy set-up, that would simplify the entire process of delivering an impactful, and engaging presentation. Moreover, he observed that all these features came with a hefty price tag and complexity.

Seeing an opportunity in this field, Matt along with our tech team, embarked on the journey to create an all-in-one video conferencing that could help organizations deliver effective presentations in a simple yet effective way. And that’s how Hapony came into being.

Today, Hapony is one of the most opted video-conferencing apps with more than 20+ futuristic features, which gives it an edge over other video-conferencing apps.

About the founder

Matt Francis is the founder of the Hapony app. With extensive experience in the events and broadcast industry, he specializes in organizing virtual and hybrid events. He holds the badge of founding two companies - Procreation and Hapony. His leadership in these ventures stems from a rich background in events and broadcast production.

Matt simultaneously runs both these companies, with Procreation being in the industry for about 20 years, and starting Hapony in the year 2022. Both Procreation & Hapony are interrelated and testify to Francis's dedication to combining creativity with cutting-edge technology to solve problems in the digital and virtual event space.

Besides his interest in creating tech-oriented solutions, he is an environmentalist and promotes sustainability. With each customer signing up on Hapony, their team plants one tree, helping fight climate change and promoting an eco-friendly environment.

Other than being a tech geek, he is also a drone pilot and has over 100 hours of professional flying experience.

And here we are hosting Matt, as one of our astounding clients, with a larger-than-life purpose and work experience that thoroughly reflects his interest in driving a change in the broadcast and virtual communication industry.

Hapony’s journey with us

We are the proud tech partners of Hapony, having engineered it entirely from its website to its product, available both on the web and mobile.

We started the project by carefully understanding the requirements of the clients, and our team meticulously aligned their skills with Hapony’s specific requirements. After understanding their requirements we firmly anchored our efforts with Hapony’s goals and vision.

Website

Our team of web app developers created Hapony’s website on Webflow, showcasing their goals and vision, and the different features they offered as a product. With over 150+ pages, we developed their entire website from scratch, created the sitemap, wrote the content, created it on web flow, and ensured all the pages had great page speed & performed well both on desktop and mobile.

Designing

We were also honored to handle the designs for Hapony and bring Matt’s vision to colorful designs. Firstly, we created the website designs, followed by designing the entire product, making it more interactive and giving it an edgy look.

From low-fidelity designs to high-fidelity mockups, delivered in pixel-perfection, we gave Hapony a fresh look and feel, impressing the founder - Matt Francis. The whole design turned out to be amazing, and seamlessly aligned with Hapony's established brand identity, resonating perfectly with Matt’s idea of having a video-conferencing app.

Engineering

Hapony being a video-conferencing app, it had to be on both the web and mobile. Thus, we created a mobile and web app version. We adopted the agile approach to developing Hapony, facilitating shorter development sprints, frequent code reviews, and testing cycles, minimizing potential bugs, and ensuring a high-quality codebase.

App development

We created the Hapony app for both iOS and Android in React native technology, which helped create a cost-effective solution for the client. With the Hapony mobile application, participants can seamlessly attend meetings from their phones. It being a web-first application, we added only participants-centered features and other features related to the admin panel and dashboard, we kept it for the web app.

Web app development

When Matt reached out to us for Hapony, they already had existing software running on a third-party hosting platform. It had poor UI, and limited features, which resulted in negligible engagement among participants.

Our team of talented web app developers got the opportunity to re-engineer the entire software and add new and enhanced functionalities. Using top-notch functionalities - React and Laravel, we created the web app and today, Hapony is a powerful combination of feature-rich functionalities, helping users expertly conduct and attend webinars online with utmost control and precision.

Matt Francis, Hapony’s founder has also formed - ‘The Hapony forest’, where with every one user joining the Hapony app, one tree is planted in that forest.

Over and above that, they also support various green initiatives, reducing Carbon emissions, and fighting climate change. Matt and his team are working for a cause, and through their SaaS platform - Hapony, they are driving a positive change and at the same time lowering environmental impact.

Some of the challenges we faced while developing Hapony

Hapony worked on a hosted third-party platform before, and thus also came with multiple challenges. However, our team faced the challenges with prompt and figured out ways to revitalize the whole look, feel, and functionality of the Hapony solution.

Legacy system limitations

The previous version of Hapony had outdated architecture, which limited scalability and performance. Transitioning to a more modern system involved significant redevelopment efforts.

User Experience (UX) improvements

Addressing poor user experience in the legacy platform required a complete redesign of the user interface, ensuring it was intuitive and user-friendly. This involved extensive user research and testing to identify pain points.

Email deliverability

Transitioning to a new email system involved ensuring high deliverability rates for notifications and reminders. Managing email templates and automating processes while maintaining compliance with email regulations posed challenges.

Content library management

Enhancing the content library required designing a system that allowed users to efficiently upload, organize, and access various media types. This included ensuring quick access and retrieval times during live sessions.

Security and compliance

As a platform handling sensitive user data and email communications, we made sure that authentication happens from both the client & user end. Thus, at the code level, we deployed CSRF, Form tampering, SQL Injection, and XSS. Moreover, we used Cloud Flare as a Firewall, and the network is full-proof SSL encrypted. Above that, data access happens through multi-factor authentication, and data is encrypted in transit & at rest.

Integration with third-party Services

Ensuring seamless integration with third-party services, such as payment gateways and email services, required careful API management and testing to avoid service disruptions.

Customizability

Allowing users to customize their webinar experiences meant developing a flexible framework that could accommodate various themes and layouts without compromising performance.
